Sandra Cherry | An Urgent Letter to Friends
At Sandra’s request, this is a shout out to let Sandra Cherry’s friends and friends of the Humane Society of Sumner County know how she is doing and what is on her mind. She is bedridden and very weak, but still the head cheerleader for the homeless furbabies.
In spite of being diagnosed with a challenging illness and unable to walk on her own, her foremost thoughts are with the fur babies that for years she has fought to help find their forever homes. She is still pleading for everyone to continue our mission which is to save more and adopt out more of the homeless animals.
For years, as President of the Humane Society of Sumner County (an IRS approved 501(c)3 organization, and a properly chartered non-profit by the state of Tennessee) she has been the backbone of the organization and has unselfishly given of her time and personal resources to ensure that good homes were found for the homeless, deserted and forgotten animals.
Sandra has lived in the Hendersonville area for 54 years with her husband of 54 years, Tom Cherry, who is now her main caregiver. He says she has good days and bad days. You may know Sandra as a savvy businesswoman, realtor, and part-owner of “Southern Sisters Estate Sales”. However, even now, when she is bedridden, she is on her phone and computer begging for people not to forget the animals. Many have donated in her honor and she reads every card and smiles at every donation that helps keep the Adoption Center, that she helped create & open.
As she starts treatments, if you wish to put a smile on her face, our address is HSSC, 16 Volunteer Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
